Homemade Chicken 65 Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp cornflour or rice flour
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh curry leaves (optional)
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit (optional)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

Prepare the Marinade:

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or longer for deeper flavor).

Fry the Chicken: 3. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat. If you prefer, you can also shallow fry. 4. Once the oil is hot, gently drop the marinated chicken pieces into the oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. 5. Fry until the chicken is golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken and drain on paper towels.

Finish the Dish: 6. Optional: In a separate pan, heat a little oil and add fresh curry leaves and green chilies for an extra burst of flavor. Toss the fried chicken pieces in this mixture for added crispness and fragrance. 7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.

Serving Suggestions: Chicken 65 is best served with a side of raita or a cooling dip. It can also be enjoyed with naan, roti, or as a side dish to rice. This spicy, crispy treat is perfect for parties, gatherings, or a savory snack.

Enjoy this delectable and vibrant appetizer with the authentic taste of Southern India!
